Aurifil s Mako Cotton thread in 50wt is the most versatile and popular cotton thread, perfect for quilting, English paper piecing (EPP), machine embroidery, applique, and much more. The 12-weight is the densest thread Aurifil offers, making it great for hand applique, hand embroidery, hand quilting, and redwork. Cotton floss is mostly used in cross stitching, crochet, huck embroidery, or any hand sewing technique. Mako Cotton Thread is a 2-ply, long-staple Egyptian Cotton that has been mercerized to strengthen the thread and give it a lustrous sheen. The 50-weight spools hold 220 yards, the floss spools contain 18 yards, and the 12-weight has 54 yards.
